Jay-Z released his 14th album this week and it instantly climbed to the number 1 spot, showing that some of the artists we’ve known and loved for decades have still got that magic touch. But every now and then it’s nice to hear something new and refreshing, to be dazzled by an the talents of a new generation. So here are 5 artists you should keep an eye on in 2017 as they head for super stardom.
Dua Lipa is much more than a pretty face as she rises to the top of the charts. Her first album, self titled ‘Dua Lipa’ was released on the 2nd of June and has since created 9 singles. With her most recent single ‘New Rules’ producing one of the music videos of the year. Her highest chart position was number 9, but we’re sure she’ll reach the number 1 spot in years to come.
Dua Lipa has so much talent and she’s only 21! In a few years time we believe she will be one of the most prominent faces in pop and the UK music scene.
Post Malone is an American rapper, singer, song writer and record producer at the ripe age of 22. He gained fame and attention for his debut single ‘White Iverson’ which made it to the number 14 spot in the US.
Malone has released his first and only album ‘Stoney’ which is platinum in the US with over 1,000,000 copies sold. We think he has the potential to be the future of Hip-Hop, with his slick vocals and fantastic well rounded abilities.
Rag ‘N’ Bone Man
You must have been living under a rock not to have heard Rag ‘N’ Bone Man’s song ‘Human’. Rag ‘N’ Bone Man has risen to fame in 2017 and won himself the Breakthrough Act award at the Brit music awards, previous winners include Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and the Arctic Monkeys, which has to be an encouraging sign.
Rag ‘N’ Bone Man is now 32 and has finally had the breakthrough he deserves. His performances at Glastonbury and Capital’s Summer Time Ball showed how gifted he is. He had a big break supporting Tom Odell on his tour in 2016 and he is now embarking on a tour of his own a year later. We expect his success to carry on in this manner and for Rag ‘N’ Bones Man to continue to grow.
The Blossoms are an Indie pop band from Stockport, Manchester. The band rose to prominence after their single ‘Charlemagne’ gained commercial success. Their only album self titled ‘Blossoms’ peaked at the number 1 spot in the UK.
Stone Roses front man Ian Brown is a big fan of the band and the Blossoms opened for the Roses at the Etihad Stadium, their biggest show to date. The band are currently playing shows in America, with shows in the UK coming in the Winter.
It is yet to be seen, but we are strongly tipping the Blossoms to be a huge success and one of Britain’s great bands.
Fresh off his sold out US tour with AJ Tracey, the South London rapper is making waves in the UK Hip-Hop and Grime scene.
Dave got his big breakthrough when Canadian rapper Drake featured on a remix of his song ‘Wanna Know’. Since then Dave’s popularity has continued to grow and we don’t think he’s done yet.
